“Somewhere out there, there’s this tree with star-shaped fruit. And the fruit represents an unbreakable connection. So as long as you and your friends carry good luck charms shaped like it, nothing can ever drive you apart. You will always find your way back to each other. An unbreakable connection.” -Aqua

This is very inspirational.

As Asians, most of us were born to fill the expectation of being a doctor or lawyer or successful business men that make loads of money. That expectation comes from the want of being rich and privileged since most immigrant Asians are not like that.

My mother longed for me to become a doctor. But like Michael’s mom, she knew that it was her job to make sure I pursue my dreams. So she gave up the idea of me being a doctor and went on to make sure I could complete my own dream.

I really wish that all parents would be like this, but like Michael’s mom, parent’s can be suppressible and forceful, leaving children without a choice. I wish they could see the mistake they are making in ruining their child’s future and happiness. I wish they saw how successful their child can be when living up to their own dream and passion.

I want to be able to remember this when I have children. I don’t want to force them into a job field that they were not meant to do. I want to support their dreams entirely, even if it was not what I had intended. I believe that with passion and will, anything can be accomplished.
